First Solent – Strike Suspended

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Now last week, there were press reports that First Solent had imposed a pay award on bus drivers based at Hoeford bus depot after failing to make any significant progress in talks. In the last 24 hours though, it appears that the strike action is suspended to allow Unite the Union members to vote on a new deal.

Now however, Unite the Union have officially suspended strike action to vote on a revised offer. I have seen some details of the offer, which I don’t think it is fair to republish as there is not a huge amount of detail.

So – the planned action this week is not going ahead.

Drivers are still technically in dispute though, so if the offer is rejected strikes may come back later in the month.

  1. I do wonder at what cost though? Many peeved passengers including myself had to find alternatives in the strike. For example the train after midday as there are special ‘evening out’ fares which means cheaper than a bus & later times. Yes may have to walk to station but it’s actually worth it now!
