With the three big groups now covered with their Christmas Service, it is time for the smaller operators and independents.

Yellow Buses released their Christmas services schedules last week and to be fair, there is nothing surprising or unusual. As with all our other operators they are continuing with normal (or rather the current) timetables up until Sunday 20th December.

Monday 21st December to Christmas Eve

Christmas Week, Yellow Buses will be running a Saturday Service on most routes, which accounts for the fact that schools are closed and some offices are still working from home.

There are always Exceptions to the service level though:

  • Weekday Timetables (due to no Saturday service) run on:
    • 18 (for Canford Heath, Waterloo Estate and Broadstone)
    • 21 (Bransgrove to Christchurch) d
    • 33 (for Boscome, Hospital and Southbourne)
    • 36 (Talbot View to University and Kinson)
    • 737 (for Aviation Business Park and Bournemouth Airport)
  • NO service will operate on the 6h and 31. These are the key worker services to for the Bournemouth Royal Hospital introduced during lockdown.

Christmas Eve

Services will finish earlier than usual on Christmas Eve and Yellow Buses have reprinted a PDF of all affected services. You can find this PDF here on the Yellow Buses website.

Essentially most services will start their last journeys out of Bournemouth between 18:00 and 18:30 – so if you are a retail worker, you won’t be stopping of in the Moon on the Square for a cheeky Christmas pint.

Beware: The last service from Poole to Christchurch on route 1 is 16:43.

Christmas Day – Ho, Ho, No Service

Boxing Day – Special Service

A special Boxing Day service will operate. Yellow Buses will be running from approximately 06:00 where buses run to Bournemouth Hospital and from 08:30 where they do not. All services will finish by 18:30, regardless of the areas they serve.

  • Services 1/ 1a / 1b
    • Poole to Bournemouth hourly
    • Bournemouth to Christchurch every 15 minutes (combined)
  • Service 2 – Hourly to Boscombe, Hospital and Castlepoint

  • Service 4 – Hourly to Westover and Castlepoint
