This week has been the quietest for bus service announcements since the start of the pandemic. Not a single bus operator in the South and Solent area made changes to more than schools services.
Now, I have not covered them as extensively as other services, mainly because the schools should be informing the pupils that use them, and you would hope that the bus drivers are letting the students know as they get on. These are mostly closed-door contract services.
morebus changed their services for Poole High School back on September 21st for example, and Xelabus added an extra lunchtime trip on their 401 Boorley Park & Botley to Barton Peveril.
Is it about to change though?
Love him or hate him, Prime Minister Boris Johnson is making some announcements today. In theory, certainly by conventional theory, he will tell the COBR meeting in room A (or room B – who knows) and then tell Parliament.
The widely speculated 3-Tier lockdown system will probably make more changes to our life. I expect that the bus companies are also watching to see what changes they might need to make on the announcement.
Hopefully, based on all the pretty maps and graphs, almost everyone in the South will continue to enjoy the restrictions that we have now. I am suspicious though that a new “Work From Home” order will be made and this might impact on bus services.
Whatever Changes
Remember, there is always someone to talk to:
You can contact Samaritans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
You can call 116 123 (free from any phone).
You can email jo@samaritans.org
You can also call the Welsh Language Line on 0300 123 3011 (7pm–11pm every day).
There are many other services available as well. When I have felt the need to refer people, I have usually used this page from Mind as my go to list of numbers for people to call.
