It’s the Day Before Lockdown

Reading Time: < 1 minute

It’s the day before Lockdown and all through the town,
People are shopping like Santa’s around,
The aisles are empty, the flour all sold,
Shelves are empty, shiny and bald.

The shutters are rolling, the staff are in tears,
They’re not sure their job will survive to next year,
Black Friday upon us and then Christmas cheer,
But money’s not flowing, until nearer New Year.

I give up, I have never been much of a poet, but as England braces itself for the Government vote to close most of the country again things are going to be different for another four weeks for most of us.

Hands, Face, Space

For those that are still going to be out and about this month though, you would hope that it will be quieter. The beaches are less attractive in November, the Black Friday Frenzy will mostly be online and Santa is self-isolating so he is fit for Christmas Eve.

If you are going out this week though, timetables are not changing. With the exception of pre-planned diversions and closures, buses and trains are running their normal timetable.

Now so far, I have not seen anything more committed than that. That does not mean that if passenger numbers plummet, that things will not change from Sunday or later in the month.
