Yellow Buses and morebus have always had open top bus services across Bournemouth, although not necessarily competing with each other. Along with the resumption of the Purbeck Breezers over Easter, so to is the Buster Beach Bus.
From Good Friday until Whitsun, Yellow Buses services 11 and 12 will be running regularly between Bournemouth Pier and Hengistbury Head, with each service running extending at either end.
Service 11
The open top bus service starting from Bournemouth Pier will call east along the East Cliff, Boscombe, Southbourne, Christchurch, Somerford and Mudeford Quay. There is a beautiful beach at Mudeford and in the summer can get busy.
The bus will run every 2 hours, but only across the two week Easter school holidays and then weekends until Bank Sunday 23rd May. The uplifted timetable after this date is to be confirmed.
Service 12
The popular service heading west from Bournemouth results a daily service from Good Friday to Friday 28th May. Starting out from the Hengistbury Head Visitors Centre, the bus follows the same route as the 11 to Bournemouth Pier, before going through Bournemouth town and out to Alum Chine.
This service will run hourly until Whitsun.
Reminder about Easter
Although these are great summer season holiday buses. These open-top views of Bournemouth and Poole are still subject to the same restrictions as the rest of the UK. Even over the Easter weekend, technically the advice is still Stay Local. You can meet in a group of 6 outside (or two households) but people are expected to still minimise the number of journeys made.
