Changes at XelaGroup

A small number of changes to the diminishing route list are happening at Xelabus and Yellow Coaches in the new year.

Eastleigh changes from 03 January

I don’t know if your memory is as long as mine, but back in September, the team at Barton Park had a bit of a shake up and the new Cross-Eastleigh service started running:

A screenshot from Xelabus about it's CrossTown X4

Well just three months later, with the new buses seemingly allocated to rail replacement and contract work, CROSSTOWN is also running under new allocation in the new year.

Service X4 will return to running between Hedge End and Eastleigh Bus Station. It will run hourly Monday to Saturday, although on Saturday’s the 1410 round trip will not operate (at least according to the online timetable)

Service X4A will be the replacement service for the Eastleigh to Velmore section, with an unchanged route. This will run hourly, off-peak only, Monday to Saturday.

Elsewhere, the University of Southampton Science Park service will have changes, with three service X21 trips each way being replaced with two, 90 minutes apart.

Bournemouth changes from 15 February

The XelaGroup brand of Yellow Coaches appears to be cancelling their trio of routes supported by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council.

Services 18, 33 and 36 were originally taken over following the demise of Yellow Buses in the summer. Whether these routes are being re-tendered, or just cancelled, we await.

Xelabus have already confirmed that they were not going to join in with the £2 Fare Cap starting New Years Day because of the “limited number of services at our Eastleigh and Bournemouth operations” and it appears that the operations might be getting smaller.

Of course, if the tender goes out offering more money…..

  1. The routes were initially let under a six-month contract by BCP Council anyway, so this is presumably the precursor to a fuller review by the Council and a possible longer-term contract.

  2. Your bus allway run later from hedge end to Eastleigh am allway they before bus come why that your bus run later before got the the train to London 22 dec 09.47am why that
