How’s the Head this morning?
Wherever you chose to listen to the fireworks from, may I be the last to wish you a Happy New Year – primarily because everyone else did it between 2330 and 0030. Yes, I was in bed, listening to the fireworks and thinking “I have to be up in 2 hours”.
Now if you are already planning where to go today for just two pound each way, then remember that it is still a heavily restricted service and some parts of town will have no bus service at all. We can debate all day long on whether bus drivers are entitled to certain days of the year off, but this is not the place to do it.
The services listed below are the only services running and no other buses or operators will be running.
Bluestar
- Sunday service on Bluestar 1, 2, 4, 7, 16 & Quayconnect.
- A special service on Bluestar 9, 12, 17 & 18
- No other routes will run.
First Solent
It’s a special service Sunday for First Solent. These are most of the routes that have received funding from the Bus Service Improvement Plan at Portsmouth City Council.
These routes will have an hourly service between approximately 8am and 6pm:
- Service 1: Gunwharf – City – Fratton – Southsea
- Service 2: Gunwharf – City – Eastney – Cosham – Paulsgrove
- Service 3: Fareham – Paulsgrove – Cosham – North End – City – Gunwharf – Southsea
- The Star 7: Gunwharf – City – North End – Cosham – Waterlooville – Wecock Farm
- The Star 8: Gunwharf – City – Stamshaw – Cosham – Waterlooville (Only)
Note: The Star 8 will not run north of Waterlooville on Christmas Day.

- Sunday service on “Yellow” routes 1a, 1 & 1b, 2, 4, 5 & 5a and 6
- Sunday service on Poole routes 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 13 14, 16, 17, 40, 50, X3 and X8
- Special service on m1, m2
Southern Vectis
A full Sunday service will operate on Southern Vectis.
Stagecoach South
There is No Service even on the 21 or 23. There are a very small number of exceptions though:
PORTSMOUTH will see the Barfoots Farm Service 25 run for Barfoots Farm staff and the Hoverbus will run 0900 to 2030
