We are at that lull in the proceedings where the full on British Christmas is just about getting over the hangover, and the hardcore Christmas animals are working up to the big party on Sunday night.

As someone largely working over Christmas and New Year – most years – partying out on New Years Eve has never been something that has worked out. A quiet New Years Eve followed by a bit more of a drinking session in January is more my usual, while everyone else is trying to sober up.

We three days of not closed, but not fully open, so this is how you can get there by bus over the next three days.

Stagecoach South

Stagecoach will be running a Saturday service across most of it’s network on these weekdays as usual. There are a small number of services that will run an alternative timetable though, largely where there is not a Saturday service, or whether the contract or tender it is paid for dictates it:

• Andover
  • Service 5 will run on Wednesday and Friday, between 0945 and 1620 only
  • Service 66, 67 and 67X will run a weekday timetable
  • Service 7a will run on Thursday
• Basingstoke
  • Service 16 will run on Wednesday and Friday
• Portsmouth
  • Services 38 and Hoverbus run a special timetable
  • Services 21 and 23 will not run the Saturday “nightbus” timetable
• Winchester
  • Service 46 will run weekday timetables
  • Service 49 & 49h will run from 0856

First Bus

First Bus will also be running a Saturday timetable across the Wessex and Solent networks, with the following exceptions:

• First Wessex services 3, 6 and X54 will run a weekday timetable
• First Solent 20, 21 and 28/a will run a weekday timetable
• First Solent F2 will not operate

Go Ahead South

Southern Vectis runs it’s normal weekday timetables

Bluestar and morebus run a Saturday timetables with the following exceptions:

• Weekday timetables on Bluestar 6 (operated by morebus), 35, H1/H2 and T3/T4
• Weekday timetables on Salisbury Reds X7 and X7R
• Additional Bluestar 5: 0705 Eastleigh to Romsey / 0750 Romsey to Eastleigh
• Weekday Timetables on morebus services 18, 24, 33, 38, 737 in Bournemouth
• Weekday Timetables on morebus services 119, 120, 191, 193 in the New Forest
• Weekday Timetables on morebus longer-distance services X1, X2, X3, X6 and X8
• Some additional early journeys also run in Bournemouth and Poole

Unlink in Southampton will run a Vacation Saturday daytime service with no night buses. The U8 will run a weekday service.

Transpora Bus Dorset

No buses will operate until January

Xelabus

There is no digital announcement due to IT issues. Apparently leaflets have been given out locally. So their small number of contracted services may or may not be running.
