The Jurassic Coast murmurs….

Reading Time: 2 minutes

…. rolls over and complains that it is too early. The morebus Breezers are starting their spring yawn and rise as the start of the Dorset summer season gets underway. Easter is slightly earlier this year, which means for many schools the Easter Bank Holiday bonanza weekend is right at the start of the two week break.

This means that there are service enhancements taking place from Good Friday 29th March in some parts of the Jurassic Breezer network. Now….. I must remember that we are talking about Go South Coast rather than the Jurassic Coasters, I can not go making that mistake again!

Thanks go to Tony Smale for the heads-up!

Breezer 31

This year the team at morebus are promoting an extended season for the Breezer 31 around Wool, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. If you are heading down there to jump off rock formations and break your neck then you might as well get the bus down there while it is £2 each way, rather than get your car clamped and towed while you are in hospital.

Sorry, was that a bit gruesome? Don’t do it, it is not worth spending the summer in a paster cast.

The Breezer 31 will run from Good Friday and daily for the two weeks of the Easter break, then weekends and Bank Holidays (daily in the May half-term) until June 3rd.

Breezer 40 & 60

The Breezer 40 (Poole to Swanage) and 60 also uplift on Sunday 17th March in readiness for the summer season.

The Purbeck Breezer 40 resumes its hourly Sunday and Public Holiday timetable, returning to a daily hourly service.

The Sunday service on Harbour Breezer 60 also returns running hourly between Sandbanks Ferry and Poole Bus Station.

I am looking forward to a chance to do the Bournemouth to Weymouth by open topper again this year, albeit with the children around the chances will be far and few between.

  1. I have a feeling we may see GSC move into first bus territory (ie further west on the Jurassic Coaster) as a result of the disasterous Swanage effort by First Bus last year.

    1. With First South having massive losses and some contraction to it’s Somerset operations, Weymouth would be a good fit for GSC.

      1. Not sure what figures you are referring to but based on the last Companies Act accounts First Hants and Dorset had an operating margin of 8.9%, compared to GSC’s margin of 6.7%.

Perhaps you need to do some research before posting inaccurate comments!

      2. Not sure where your figures have come from but based on the last Companies House data available, FHD’s operating margin was 8.9%, a fair bit higher than GSC’s equivalent figure of 6.7%.

        Not a massive loss!

        1. Apologies that your comments yesterday did not make it onto the post. I thought I had approved one and denied one as they looked like copies of each other.
