There are a number of service updates that have recently appeared on dispatches and are scattered around the region and companies. So it’s time for one of those cheating posts rounding them all-up in one hit.
Xelabus
Alongside their regular X27 service for Victorious, the guys in green will also be working the weekend Park & Ride service to Southsea.
The PR3 starts on Saturday 8th June and runs on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays until Sunday 1st September. There is no timetable on their website or TravelineSW yet.
Stagecoach South
There are a number of changes in Basingstoke from Sunday 30th June. It appears that there will be a frequency increase on:
* Service 7 for Chineham
* Service 8 for Hatch Warren & Kempshott Park
* Service 20 for Vyne Park
This has been registered as short notice, attributable to awaiting details of ongoing roadworks affecting service 13, so I am not expecting finalised timetables to appear for a few weeks. Based on round trip times though, that it going to affect multiple running boards.
Updated Monday 3rd June
So looking at the timetables that have now appeared on TravelineSW it appears that it is slightly more than just a timetable change.
Service 8 for is now showing to have a route change. It currently runs into town via the Rail Station to the Bus Station, and then out via the Rail Station to Churchill Way West. The thing is that service 8 keeps being tinkered with. There was a time that it did not serve the bus station at all – running to and from stop X opposite the railway station.
Service 20 for Vyne Park is also getting a service uplift to every 20 minutes during the daytime, and the evening Friday / Saturday service being extended to run Monday to Thursday. There is a change to the evening times to run earlier, so check carefully.
Slightly Off Patch
If you are also interested in things slightly outside of where we cover here, the Hants & Surrey have been reporting on the closure (again) of the LGOC Lees Road bus depot.
This was Arriva’s base of operations while they were operating in the area, with Stagecoach South taking on a lease in 2022. The Lees Road operations of Stagecoach have now been transferred to their Peasmarsh depot.
