With the run up to the festive season beginning, bus operators are going to be looking to get bums on seats and revenue in boxes.
So here is what should en up being a quick summary of the bus ticket offers that are on offer over the festive season. If you spot one that I miss, then let me know on the contact page.
PlusBus
Not strictly a short term offer, but something that does not get promoted anywhere, often enough.
If you are travelling into a town or city by train, most areas have what is known as the PlusBus. It is an add-on ticket which allows for unlimited travel across the town or city. For commuters holding season tickets, this can be for the same length as your ticket (up to 12 months) but there is also a day option.
I use PlusBus quite a bit when I am visiting the Fareham and Gosport area, because I commute in from outside the boundary. In many cases the tickets are cheaper than two £2 fare cap singles, so even if you are doing one single return journey it is often cheaper.
To see the tickets and the towns available check out their location search.
You can buy PlusBus tickets from your usual rail ticket outlet; although they have to be printed on the standard cardboard ticket stock. With that in mind…. buy from your local ticket office and support staffing on stations!
Bluestar
Bluestar are offering Southampton Zone family day tickets for just £5.
Tickets are available both from the driver or on the app, and up to five peple can travel .
This offer is valid from Friday 15 November to Sunday 5th January.
