How is the food coma? Are you stilling yesterday’s centrepiece into tonight’s curry? We had a lovely and largely quiet day, or rather a quiet afternoon after a pair of hyper-excited children spent the morning among tonnes of discarded wrapping paper.
Thankfully, one of them should be growing out of that over the next year or so, which will mean a more grown up affair with something later than a 6am wake up call!
So as I settle down to a Christmas evening of single malt and artisan small batch beer I asked AI to edit a bus picture as I bash out the copy and paste machine for the Boxing Day bus service.
Something I have noticed though. Since posting the “by-operator” summaries a few weeks ago – many of the pages have been updated and reflecting my grumpy grumblings. So if you have been instrumental in clarifying service changes at First Wessex, Bluestar or morebus on the back of my whinging here…. thank you!

Alton, Bordon and Petersfield
A Sunday service will run on services 18 and 65.
Andover
There is no Stagecoach South service, although Salisbury Reds Activ8 will run a special timetable.
Basingstoke
There is no Stagecoach service.
Newbury & District’s Flightline 731 (and 730) will run a Sunday timetable between Basingstoke, Frimley and Heathrow Airport.
Bournemouth & Poole
morebus will be running a Sunday service on the following routes:
- Services 1a, 1b and 1c to Somerford, Southbourne and Christchurch
- Services 3, 4, 6 and 13/a for Wimbourne
- Services 5 for Kinson
- Service 8 & 9 for Turlin Moor and Upton
- Service 11 to Canford Paddock
- Service 12 to RBH and Castlepoint
- Services 14, 16, 17, 22, 25, 26 around Bournemouth and Poole
- Service X3 between Bournemouth, Ringwood and Salisbury
- Service X8 between Poole and Blandford
A special timetable will run on services m1 and m2 (3 buses an hour on each route), Breezer 40 (every 2 hours) and Breezer 50 (every 2 hours)
Night buses N1, N2 and N5 will run on the night of Boxing Day as well.
Fareham & Gosport
The Eclipse bus road will be open on Boxing Day, with First Solent running services E1 and E2 on a joint 3 bus an hour service during the daytime. That means Elson and Anns Hill both get a bus every 40 minutes.
Service 3 will run half-hourly from Fareham to QA Hospital and towards Portsmouth.
Stagecoach South service 69 to/from Winchester will not run.
Isle of Wight
Southern Vectis will run a full Sunday service.
Portsmouth & Havant
Both Stagecoach and First will be running their recently introduced Christmas services across the city with support from Portsmouth City Council.
There are half-hourly services operating during the daytime on the following routes
- Services 1 & 3 Fareham – Gunwharf – Southsea – Gunwharf
A few extra short 3 trips for QA Hospital will run - Service 2 Paulsgrove – Eastney – Gunwharf
- Service 7 Gunwharf – Waterlooville – Wecock Farm
- Service 8 Gunwharf – Cosham – Clanfield
- Tipner Park & Ride – Service PR1 – Sunday Service
- 18 Paulsgrove – QA Hospital – Fratton – Clarence Pier
- 20 Havant – Crookhorn – QA Hospital – Commercial Road – Gunwharf
- 21 Gunwharf – Anchorage Park (hourly at the start of the day)
- 22 Havant – Warren Park
- 23 Havant – Cosham – Gunwharf – South Parade Pier

An hourly service will run on Coastliner 700 between Portsmouth, Havant and Chichester.
The Barfoot’s workers shuttle service 725 will operate.
South Dorset
First Wessex will be closed for business on Boxing Day, with no buses running across Weymouth, Portland or Dorchester.
GoAhead are running a largely Sunday service, which that the Damory services across Dorchester and South Dorset do not run.
Southampton
Bluestar are running a largely Sunday timetable on Boxing Day. There are a few exceptions to this rule though:
- Service 1 to Chandlers Ford and Winchester
- Service 2 to Eastleigh and Fair Oak
- Cross-city 17 between Weston – City – Adanac Park
- Cross-city 18 between Millbrook – City – Thornhill
- Bluestar 6 (run from morebus Lymington) doe not operate.
It should be noted that the N2, N17 and N18 will run on the night of Boxing Day, but despite being a Friday the N1 will not.
First Solent will not be running any services on the X4 or X5.
Winchester
There are no Stagecoach bus services in Winchester on Boxing Day.
