
I was up at 3am for work, so I hope that you have had a more celebratory New Years Eve than I had, listening to the fireworks going off from about 6pm through to 1am overnight. Bah Humbug! Whether or not you chose to enjoy to welcome in the New Year with a glass of fizzy lemonade or a bottle of Lanson; may your 2026 be even better than 2025!
Important: Although the Friends of King Alfred Buses are running their annual New Years running day in Winchester, the Ale & Ride event in Gosport and Fareham is postponed until Easter. Do not head to Gosport or Fareham for the event as it is not running.

These are the service summaries for New Years Day – Thursday 1st January.
Bournemouth & Poole
le on most of it’s commercial network:
- Services 1a, 1b and 1c to Somerford, Southbourne and Christchurch
- Services 3, 4, 6 and 13/a for Wimbourne
- Services 5 for Kinson
- Service 8 & 9 for Turlin Moor and Upton
- Service 11 to Canford Paddock
- Service 12 to RBH and Castlepoint
- Services 14, 16, 17, 22, 25, 26 around Bournemouth and Poole
- Service X3 between Bournemouth, Ringwood and Salisbury
- Service X8 between Poole and Blandford
A special timetable will run on services m1 and m2 (3 buses an hour on each route), Breezer 40 (every 2 hours) and Breezer 50 (every 2 hours)
Night buses N1, N2 & N5 will operate. N5 is an update, as it was not originally mentioned.
Gosport & Fareham
Once again – the Ale & Ride running event is postponed until April.
Service 3 will run from Fareham into Portsmouth.
The Friends of King Alfred Buses service 69 will still run its running day timetable despite the postponement of the Ale & Ride running day. This is a special heritage service, so if you are heading out to sample the buses of old, a donation to the cause will help them to go a long way to preserving and restoring some beautiful vehicles.
Isle of Wight
Southern Vectis will be running a Sunday service.
Portsmouth & Havant
Portsmouth City Council are – as I understand it – financially supporting the New Years Day. The following services are running an hourly timetable.
An hourly service will run across the following routes:
- Service 1 Gunwharf – Southsea
- Service 2 Paulsgrove – Gunwharf
- Service 3 Fareham – Southsea
- Service 7 Gunwharf – Wecock Farm
- Service 8 Gunwharf – Clanfield
- 18 Paulsgrove – QA Hospital – Fratton – Clarence Pier
- 20 Havant – Crookhorn – QA Hospital – Commercial Road – Gunwharf
- 21 Gunwharf – Anchorage Park
- 22 Havant – Warren Park
- 23 Havant – Cosham – Gunwharf – South Parade Pier

Southampton
Bluestar run a standard Sunday service timetable for most services – those without a Sunday timetable will not run. Revised services will however run on:
- Service 1 to Chandlers Ford and Winchester
- Service 2 to Eastleigh and Fair Oak
- Cross-city 17 between Weston – City – Adanac Park
- Cross-city 18 between Millbrook – City – Thornhill
- No service will run on Bluestar 6
- No service on PR1 from Adanac Park, however PR2 is running for the Millwall game at St Marys.
Quayconnect will not run the 07:35 round trip from Central Station (07:47 from Town Quay)
First Solent service X4 and X5 will not operate which will affect Southampton fans from Fareham and Locks Heath.
South Dorset
First Wessex will operate no service.
Damory will operate no service.


Saints fans will have to get a train from Swanwick or Fareham. Running a sort of Sunday modified service. Do check.
