A Quick Service I missed near Swanage

Reading Time: < 1 minute

With apologies to Tony that I made a mental note to mention it in yesterday’s eventual post!

If you fancy something different and to get there by bus, then maybe this is the year to go and visit RSPB Arne by bus!

This project, funded and supported by the Purbeck Community Rail Partnership, Dorset County Council, the RSPB and hydrocarbon producer Perenco; this service runs two distinct timetables:

  • On Wednesdays 22nd July to 23rd December
    • Runs from Wareham Station and Stoborough Meadow to RSPB Arne
  • On Tuesdays 28 July to 25 August, and
  • On Saturdays 25 July to September
    • Runs Wareham Station – Stoborough Meadow – RSPB Arne – Stoborough Green – Swanage Railway Norden Station

The fares are all one-way singles tickets: £2 Adult, £1 Child, Under 7s are free. The webpage suggests the bus is cash only, but the timetable does say contactless is accepted.
National Concessionary Bus Passes are accepted.

Non-RSPB members will also get a discount into RSPB Arne on presentation of their bus ticket, and RSPB members get free entry already.

The timetable is below – or you can find out more on the dedicated Visit Dorset page.

  1. If the feed for bustines.org is pulling through information from a bluestar feed updated on 16th July it seems to be showing some changes from the end of August including the routes the council announced they were trying to get in place back in May which seems to be these are

    6 – Southampton – Peartree – Bitterne – Townhill Park

16 now extended to Aldermoor via St James Road.
