Fares Up! morebus Edition

A morebus Double Deck bus in Ringwood
Reading Time: < 1 minute

So, if you still reeling from the summer hikes in Amazon Prime and Disney+ – then sorry – morebus are increasing fares on Monday 21 November.

Yes, I know it’s tomorrow. I was so focused on watching for Christmas service levels that I missed it. I need to get my fat gut in gear and into a big red suit you know!

There are also changes affecting First Bus subsidiaries in Solent and Wessex on December 4th, so remember to check them out as well.

TheKey get shackled again!

Not surprising really as both Southern Vectis and Bluestar have announced the phasing out; TheKey gets a number of fares withdrawn tomorrow in preparation for the sunsetting of the smartcard first run by GoAhead’s Southern rail franchise.

Withdrawn fares: TheKey versions of Adult Multi-Trip and 7 Day tickets
Retained fares (with an increase – APP PRICES ARE CHEAPER): 30 Day and 90 Day

Really – read the capital letters – THE APP IS CHEAPER by over 10%

Everything else up

Now if you are still using Single fares, then morebus are increasing these by up to 50p.

Most other tickets though, whether you are buying them on the app or by paper ticket are also increasing. From a rough sample of the random tickets I have looked at the premise seems to be that non-day ticket prices will go up by close to, but not quite 10%

Once to you go over the 7 day tickets, then the rule of thumb is to increase your price by 10%, then round down to the nearest pound.

Full details are in the morebus news post.
