I hope before you read this, that you have had a nice glass of Bucks Fizz, ensured you have no coal to unwrap and maybe even managed some scrambled egg on salmon! I hope you have a great Christmas Day, and those of you with younger adults will already be struggling to keep the house tidy of paper!

For those travelling out and about today there are a few services running. Never mentioned, but we also have a few National Express coach services running on special routes. Whether you can still book seats on them though is the question!

with local bus services on Christmas Day, special fares usually apply, but equally the National Concessionary Bus Pass is (as I understand it) accepted. Don’t take that as universally gospel though!

Only these services are running today:

Bluestar

  • Service 1X – Southampton – Eastleigh – Chandlers Ford – Winchester
  • Service 17X – As per the normal 17 route
  • Service 18X – As per the normal 18 route, extended to the General Hospital and Aldermoor

Southern Vectis

Island buses run a special timetable on a number of their normal service routes. I understand that normal fares apply on the Isle of Wight.

  • Service 1 Newport to Cowes
  • Service 3 Newport to Ryde
  • Service 5 Newport to East Cowes
  • Service 7 Newport to Shalfleet, Yarmouth and Totland
    (Note: No service via Wellow)
  • Service 9 Newport to Ryde

Services m1 and m2 will run as they usually do on Christmas day, with each service running hourly.

Service m2, as usual, extends to Tuckton Bridge and Christchurch.

First Solent

Thanks to Portsmouth City Council support, First Solent are running a number of hourly services across some of their Portsmouth centric routes again (with changes highlighted in bold) this year:

  • Service 1 Gunwharf to Fratton and Southsea
  • Service 2 Gunwharf to Eastney, Copner and Paulsgrove Shops
  • Service 3 Southsea to Gunwharf, North End and Fareham
  • Service 7 Gunwharf to North End, Waterlooville and Wecock
  • Service 8 Gunwharf to Stamshaw, Cosham and Waterlooville only

Stagecoach South

There are also special timetables supported by Portsmouth City Council on two of Stagecoach South’s services out of Farlington Depot:

  • Service 21 Havant to Farlington, Copnor and Gunwharf
  • Service 23 Leigh Park to Havant, Cosham, Gunwharf and Southsea
