I waited until 1st November to start talking about Christmas services. There is new news though about the Christmas services that are on offer in Southampton this year though as the boys in blue are announcing a new Christmas Day service.
We, yes know, Bluestar have been running Christmas Day services for a number of years, even though First Southampton, Xelabus and others don’t. Bluestar have published hot on the heals of fellow Go South Coast brand Southern Vectis though; so let’s take a look.
Friday 23 December – Normal Friday timetable operates today.
Christmas Eve – A normal Saturday timetable runs Christmas Eve, except :
- Bluestar 17 (timetable) and Bluestar 18 (timetable) will run every 12 minutes during the day, and less frequent than usual in the morning and evening. Timetables in the links << back there<<
- The 21:55 Bluestar 16 from town will not run.
Christmas Day – Special Service. No routes or timetables yet.
- Service 1X between Southampton, Eastleigh, Chandlers Ford and Winchester – Every 2 Hours
- NEW Service 17X an hourly service which appears to be following the normal route 17
- Service 18X an hourly service which extends to the General Hospital and Aldermoor Turning Circle – With the new 17X this year serving Lordshill.
Boxing Day – Sunday Service, except on the Lymington depot based Bluestar 6, which will not run.
Tuesday 27th December – Sunday Service on all routes.
Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th & Friday 30th December – A Saturday service will run with some exceptions:
- A weekday service will run on “Salisbury Reds” (which Bluestar runs some of from Totton depot) X7 and X7R, and on Bluestar 35
- Services 39, H1 and H2 will run on Wednesday and Friday
- Services 36, T3 and T4 will run on Thursday
- An additional Bluestar 5 will run: 0705 Eastleigh to Romsey & 0745 Romsey to Eastleigh
New Years Eve – A normal Saturday Service.
New Years Day –
- Sunday service on Bluestar 1, 2, 4, 7, 16 & Quayconnect.
- A special service on Bluestar 9, 12, 17 & 18 – timetables are not available yet
- No other routes will run.
Monday 2nd January 2023 – Sunday Service
Tuesday 3rd January – Normal timetables resume.
