There are a few changes at First that have recently appeared in the Traffic Commissioners registration lists. We also have new news from the very south coast from next month.
In Portsmouth, First Solent have a small number of changes that are taking effect at various times:
- From Sunday 23rd July, Fareham local service F1 will resume an hourly timetable around Fareham and Highlands Road
- From Sunday 6th August (although it will take effect sooner) the schools registration of service 7a will be withdrawn from Hilsea depots The Star 7 timetable. These are for Oaklands School and South Downs College’s Crookhorn Campus.
I am making an assumption that these will be absorbed into the existing timetable and “school days” services will run as normal 7’s. We may find that a new registration for a separated service will appear though. - From Sunday 27th August, additional “extra early” and “Friday Saturday late night” trips will run on Gunwharf to Southsea service 1. Now these still inter-connect with service 3 on Friday and Saturday nights, don’t they? So whether we will also see a change to the later night Portchester trips will remain to be seen.
In Weymouth, we also have more changes:
- Service 10 between Weymouth, Dorchester and Poundbury will have a revised timetable from Sunday 18th June. Not sure if this is an additional change, to the changes we already talked about.
- First Wessex are not running the Weymouth Park and Ride.
Yeah! You heard that right.
Although First Wessex are running an increased timetable on Service 2, including late night buses; the Dorset County Council contract for the Weymouth Park & Ride has been awarded to…..
Not seen a timetable, a registration or anything yet; although it has only been a few days. Presumably it will be under the Altonian Coaches license and run out of the new Weymouth depot which is taking on work from Barry’s Coaches schools operation – closing dur to retirement.
