Changes This Weekend in Fareham

Following on from changes in Portsmouth and to The Star services, I did say that I was surprised that there were not also some changes out of Hoeford Depot in Fareham. This week, there were.

Now slightly surprisingly for First Hampshire & Dorset, despite having a number of bus commuting family in the area, none of them knew about the changes that were happening on routes out of Fareham. They are quite significant as well, but here they are.

The Eclipse

The most important change is that the Eclipse has had quite an axe taken to it now.

Both the E1 and the E2 will now run every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, albeit with a bus every 16 minutes during the morning peak and early evening. This gives a combined service up and down the BRT route every 10 minutes (every 8 in peaks) – close to what it was in the early days of Lockdown 1.

Portsmouth Service 1 & 3

Reminiscent of many other services before it, services 1 and 3 provide a loop of the south end of Portsea Island before heading to and from Fareham.

Both the Gunwharf – Fratton – Southsea service, and the Southsea – Gunwharf – North End – Cosham – Fareham service will become every 10 minutes Monday to Fridays.

Noticeably there is very little in the way of extra buses in the rush hours here though, presumably due to the large amount of duplication between various routes that takes place in Portsmouth.
